Installing the filament spool holder
Now we install the spool holder - the I-shaped metal bracket that holds your filament on the back of the printer. It mounts with the two black screws from the accessory bag and the smallest Allen wrench.Grab the I-shaped bracket, the two black screws, and the smallest of your three Allen wrenches for this step.
Why it goes on the back
The filament needs a clean path up into the PTFE tube. Mounting the spool on the back lets filament feed upward into the tube, then down into the extruder. The bracket’s small clasp keeps a heavy spool from falling off.Step-by-step
1
Turn the printer around
Rotate the printer so you are looking at the back. The spool holder mounts here, above where the filament feeds up into the tube.
2
Find the mounting holes
Look for a sticker with two yellow arrows marking the two screw holes. This is where the bracket attaches.
3
Position the bracket (clasp toward the back)
Hold the I-shaped bracket over the two holes with the clasp facing the back. The clasp is what keeps the spool from sliding off.
4
Thread the first screw by hand
Start one black screw with your fingers to get it lined up - this is easier than starting with a tool. Then use the smallest Allen wrench to turn it in (righty-tighty), just a little at a time.
5
Thread and tighten the second screw
Line up and thread the second screw the same way. Alternate between both screws, tightening a bit at a time so the bracket seats evenly.
6
Tighten firmly
Make both screws nice and tight. A full spool of filament is heavy, so a secure bracket matters. Give it a gentle wiggle to confirm it is solid.
The I-shaped spool holder is mounted firmly on the back of the printer with both black screws, clasp facing the back, and it does not wobble.
