Know your tools before you build

Now that your printer is unboxed, let’s open the accessory bag and identify every tool and part. Knowing what each item is - and what it does - makes the rest of assembly smooth and stress-free.

What’s in the bag

Open the accessory bag and lay everything out in your workspace. You should find each of the following.
A metal bracket shaped like a capital letter I, with a small clasp on the end. This holds your filament spool on the back of the printer. Set it aside for the filament holder install.
Three Allen wrenches in different sizes. You will use all three during assembly - a small, medium, and larger size for different screws.
A cross (Phillips) screwdriver. Keep it with your Allen wrenches.
A small bag with two black screws, about an eighth of an inch. These attach the spool holder to the back of the printer. Do not lose these.
A small bag of white grease for lubricating the printer’s moving rails during maintenance.
A thin pin used to clear filament out of the white feed tube or nozzle if it ever jams. Push it down through the path to unclog.
Cutting pliers used to trim the PLA filament to a clean point before loading it.
Works like a glue stick (you can even substitute an Elmer’s glue stick). Applied to the bed, it helps prints adhere so the first layer sticks properly.
The adhesive / glue stick is one of the most useful items in the kit. When a print will not stick to the bed, a thin coat of glue is often the fix. You will use it during your first prints.

Organize your workspace

Before installing anything, arrange your tools so you can grab them quickly.

Group by task

Keep the spool holder, its two black screws, and the small Allen wrench together - you will need them at the same time.

Keep hex keys handy

You will reach for the Allen wrenches repeatedly. Keep all three within easy reach and remember which size is which.

Set aside the glue and grease

You will not need the glue or grease during assembly, but keep them nearby for your first print and future maintenance.

Store spare packaging

Put any empty bags and wrappers straight into your storage box to keep your area clear.
You have every accessory laid out and identified: spool holder, three Allen wrenches, screwdriver, two black screws, grease, unclogging pin, pliers, and glue stick.
Next we install the LCD panel. Grab your set of Allen wrenches and keep them close - the very next step needs the second-largest one.
