# Unboxing your Ender 3

> Safely unbox your Ender 3 kit, remove all packaging, and lay out every component for the build.

## Let's open the box

Today we build. We start by carefully unboxing your Ender 3, removing all the foam and packaging, and laying out every part so nothing gets lost. Follow along with the video, then use the written steps and checklist below.

  Before you begin, make sure you have a **pair of scissors** and a **clear, spacious workspace**. Parts clutter your space quickly, so give yourself room. Kit components are **not individually replaceable**, so do not lose anything - keep pets and siblings away.

## Step-by-step unboxing

  <Step title="Cut the tape and open the flaps">
    Set the box in front of you. Carefully cut the tape across the top with scissors, cutting **away from your body**, and fold the four flaps open.

  <Step title="Lift out the top foam and manual">
    Lift out the large top foam insert (use the small finger hole to wiggle it free). Underneath is the **Creality Ender 3 quick installation guide** - set it aside for reference.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Remove the components one at a time">
    Reach in and slowly lift out the packed items: the **LCD panel** in a thick static bag, the **cables**, the two sets of cellophane-wrapped **metal rails**, and the **extruder** block (the chunky piece with a QR code).

  <Step title="Lift out the printer base">
    The largest piece is the **printer base and bed** - a big metal square with the moving bed on top. Lift it out carefully by the base; there are wires attached, so support them as you go.

  <Step title="Remove the lower foam and power supply">
    Pull out the large foam insert underneath. The **power supply unit** and a lower foam tray of small parts and bags come out with it.

  <Step title="Empty the small parts">
    Pull out the remaining pieces: the **Z-axis motor** (a metal cube with a cylinder on top), the **roller bracket** (a triangle with three wheels), the **spool-holder tube**, the **metal scraper**, the **power cord**, the **filament**, and two **plastic bags of screws and parts**.

  <Step title="Clear the box away">
    Once the box is empty, move it off your workspace so you have room to lay everything out.

## Store packaging safely

Whenever you remove a wrapper, sticker, or foam piece, drop it straight into the empty box. Keep all packaging - you will want it if you ever move or ship the printer.

  * All tape, cellophane, and bags are removed and set aside
  * The printer base, LCD panel, rails, extruder, power supply, and Z-axis motor are out
  * The bags of screws, the tools, the spool holder, and the filament are laid out
  * Your workspace is clear and organized
