# Maintenance

> Keep your Adventurer 5M printing well for years with routine care of the plate, nozzle, and moving parts.

## Keep your printer healthy

A 3D printer is a precision machine with moving parts, heat, and wear. A little routine maintenance keeps prints looking great and prevents the frustrating failures that come from a neglected machine. This is the care that makes your printer last for years.

## Build plate care

    Wipe the PEI plate with **isopropyl alcohol (IPA)** to remove finger oils and old glue residue. A clean plate is the simplest fix for prints that stop sticking.

    Add a fresh thin layer of the washable glue stick when adhesion drops. Wash off buildup occasionally with warm water.

    Never gouge the plate with metal tools. Let the bed cool and flex the plate to release prints. Scratches become permanent low-adhesion spots.

    Different plates suit different filaments. The stock PEI plate is ideal for PLA, PETG, and TPU - the materials you use in this camp.

## Nozzle care

    When you change to a new material or color, run a load/purge so the old filament is fully pushed out. This prevents mixed colors and clogs.

    Use the **unclogging pin** to clear the tip if extrusion gets weak. For stubborn blockages, do a cold pull or replace the nozzle.

    If you print abrasives, dedicate a hardened nozzle to them. Do not mix abrasive and standard printing on a soft brass nozzle.

    A new nozzle can sit at a slightly different height. Always re-run calibration after replacing it.

## Moving parts and general care

Your printer's rails, belts, and fans need occasional attention.

  Your kit includes a small tube of **lubricating grease** for exactly this purpose. A tiny amount on the rails keeps motion smooth - do not over-apply.

## Vibration compensation and ringing

If you see **ghosting** or **ringing** (faint repeated echoes of edges on your print), it usually comes from vibration.

## When to re-level and calibrate

Re-run calibration when you:

* Switch materials or notice adhesion problems
* Replace the nozzle or build plate
* Move the printer to a new location
* Have not printed in a long time
